Hundreds of children will wake up on Christmas morning to find a present under the tree thanks to the generosity of Doncaster residents and local businesses, who have donated thousands of brand new toys and gifts.

Doncaster Children's Services Trust has received presents from local appeals, including those at Trax FM and Direct Line insurance among others; as well as Trust staff making donations too - and they have been busy delivering them to families and young people who would otherwise have few gifts.

The annual Toy Appeal this year also included a ‘Christmas in a box’ collection among Trust staff who donated luxury Christmas food items and new Christmas decorations for some of their young people who are managing on a tight budget.

Julie Mepham, Director of Children’s Social Care at the Trust, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the Doncaster community – especially as this is such a busy time of year.

“It is wonderful to witness care and thought for others and I know many of our children and young people will have a brighter Christmas thanks to them. On behalf of the families we work with I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated.”
