We recognise that it is very important that you receive the right training at the right time so that you fully understand what fostering involves and can achieve the best outcomes for the children in your care.
Before you become a foster care you will be invited to attend the Fostering Network’s ‘Skills to Foster’ course which covers:
- the role of the foster carer
- working with professionals and families
- listening to young people
- safer caring
- fostering skills
- managing difficult behaviour
- the needs of the children you will be looking after
- moving on
Once approved, you will be able to access our extensive monthly training programme, which includes training for both new and experienced foster carers. In addition to this you will be able to access our comprehensive online training courses and other more specialist courses to support your continued professional development.
All our training is delivered locally in Doncaster by our own fostering team, Doncaster Children's Services Trust training team or external trainers.
